King Charles the 3rd is the newest monarch after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, sadly passed. Her reign lasted for about 70 years before she passed away. Next in line was her oldest son King Charles who is 73 years old born on November 8, 1948, born at Buckingham Palace, London, United Kingdom, and is married to Camilla, Queen consort of the United Kingdom, he has two children: William, Prince of Wales and  Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.

As Queen Elizabeth was in her coffin, all wrapped in royal attire and carried from the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh and placed in a hearse, her son King Charles the 3rd was dressed in his army uniform while Princess Anne, Prince Andrew. While Prince Edward had walked right behind the hearse which traveled all the way to St. Giles’ Cathedral surrounded “by a bearer party of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and a detachment of The King’s Bodyguard in Scotland.” Charles, Anne, and Edward all wore military uniforms while Andrew did not. The reason why is that he was stripped of his title and was taken off as a working royal due to his friendship with the notorious U.S. sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The coffin remained at the cathedral until Tuesday so that the public can pay their respects to their beloved queen. While the public mourns the loss of the queen, not everyone has had positive things to say. Now that King Charles the 3rd is in charge he plans on downsizing the Monarchy. Back in April 2021, he planned to execute a reducing a lot more rooms but the King planned on decreasing the senior members down to a select few seven people.

He did this in order to save money for the monarchy as they would also be funded by sovereign grants. The funds by the public would be used to support working royals. The Times also stated that a larger group of monarchs created a less efficient press attendance, as individual majestic houses are left to operate in their own granary, regardless of the crash on the establishment. Also by making the monarch a lot smaller they would have greater control over what gets said to the public on behalf of the royal court.

King Charles the 3rd also plans on downsizing the royal residence at Buckingham Palace. In October 2021, King Charles the 3rd planned on turning the Buckingham Palace royal residence from a 52-room to a single apartment once he had gained control of the throne.

A source stated there “will be a much more modest flat-above-the-shop situation akin to that of the prime minister at Downing Street.” He also stated that the people who will be staying will be important members of the monarchs, so rather than being an actual home, they live in the now empty space and will be used as a tourist attraction. Another source also stated that King Charles the 3rd would also take into consideration turning Balmoral into a museum where the queen had spent most of her summers as a tribute to her death.

The public has sent a few mixed messages about how it feels about the queen’s passing. While some make crude jokes, others mourn the queen’s passing. Some are worried about what the future holds now that King Charles the 3rd is now on the throne. Others believe that the royal family isn’t ready to really rule over the United Kingdom. While the internet looks for any information of any kind from the royal family, the family right now just wants to mourn the queen. Her death has brought them all together once again, even with all the issues and drama between the royal family. It was put aside for their beloved mother, grandmother, and queen.
